Stories - We have some stories about San Juan Island and island life, that range from true to local lore and humorous anecdotes. These include:

How Friday Harbor Got Its Name
San Juan Island's Own Tea Party
The Hunters and The Locals
Wishing Stones, Kelp Instruments, and Button Charm Necklaces
The Submarine Races
Spotting Rabbits, An Old Island Sport

Travel Directions - You can visit San Juan Island by ferry, plane or private boat. Please don't try taking the bridge. There is no bridge and the folks that gave you directions to the bridge are just spoofin' you. They are probably the same folks that said you can watch the Submarine Races from South Beach, or have offered to take you "Snipe Hunting". To find real modes of arrival, ferry schedules, and phone numbers for the airport, ferry, harbor, airlines, and airporter, click here.

Advance reservations are suggested for all activities and lodging on San Juan Island.
